The marriage took place yesterday afternoon at St. John’s Church, Darlinghurst, of Charles Arthur Noel Young, 2nd son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Young, Fairymead, Bundaberg, Queensland, to Margery Bisdee Maynard Pain, eldest daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. E Maynard Pain, of Sydney, and Old Cairo, Egypt. The Rev. Kenneth Pain, uncle of the bride, officiated, and was assisted by Dr. Weeks and the Rec. L. G. Hatfield Hall. The marriage gown was of baronet satin with sleeves and drapes of Parisian lace. The net veil was encircled with a wreath of orange blossoms. The bride was given away by her uncle, the Rev. Allan Pain, and was attended by her sister, Miss Constance Pain, and Miss Charis Young, sister of the bridegroom. Both wore pale blue taffeta frocks, made in 18th century style, with silver crinoline hats, swathed with blue georgette. They carried bouquets of blue blossoms, and wore blue and silver beads, the gifts of the bridegroom. Three smaller attendants, Misses Margaret Holt, Margaret Piddington, and Joan Matthews, wore cream net frocks over blue taffeta, with net hats, trimmed with forget-me-nots. They carries blue and pick posies and wore gold bangles, gifts of the bridegroom. Captain Henry S. B. Young and Mr. Stafford Young attended the bridegroom. The reception was held at the Waratah Tea Rooms, where Mrs. E. Maynard Pain and Mr. and Mrs. T.S. Holt (uncle and aunt of the bride) entertained about 160 guests. The bride travelled in a grey coat and skirt and grey hat, trimmed with saxe. [a light blue colour with a greyish tinge].

Charles Arthur Noel Young was born on 23 December 1899. He was the son of Charles Ernest Young and Margaret Elsé Adam. He married Margery Bisdee Maynard Pain, daughter of Dr. Maynard Pain, on 24 January 1923. He died in 1992. He was educated Tonbridge and Sydney GS. He was chairman and managing director Fairymead Sugar Co, Bundaberg, executive member and v-pres. Australian Sugar Producers Assoc. He was Member, Order of Australia.
