Her marriage dress is elegant but very conservative. The collar goes all the way up to her neck. It didn’t occur to me until today, but is she pregnant? It might just be my imagination, wanting to add drama to the post-marriage family portrait. Or it could just be the cut of the dress. The bouquets are daisies. The bridesmaids dresses are in the patchwork-style and very possibly homemade. The woman to the right of the bride is likely the mother of the groom or the bride, but she’s not wearing a marriage ring. The man on her right is most likely the groom’s father, as there’s an apparent family resemblance. The young woman with Down’s Syndrome on the fair left is wearing her bridesmaid’s dress over another piece of clothing with similiar fabric to the marriage dress. The groom is wearing a plaid bowtie. I made a vow that when writing captions to these vintage photos, I would not deride the various represented fashions of past 20th century decades. I will not break this vow. I can, however, be very confused.
