This was my 1st attempt at stacking a cake. It was the 1st marriage cake I ever made. It was a gift from me to my brother and his brand-new wife. They had an outdoor marriage with a country-western theme.
12", 10", 8" tiers of white almond sour cream cake with red raspberry filling. Vanilla-almond buttercream frosting. All three layers covered in vanilla fondant that I colored ivory to match her dress.
I handmade all of the decorations from fondant and gumpaste. I created the paisley designs on the belt and buckle using scrapbooking stamps.
NOTE: the rows of pearls on the bottom tier were added when I got to the park. The cake was on a slight incline for the drive to the marriage, and the weight of the cake caused the bottom layer of fondant to split in two places. Luckily, the splits were almost symmetrical so I was able to add the pearls and make them look like part of the original design.
